The first allotments to the MBBS course in 10 government and 19 private self-financing medical colleges with differential fees structure (ranging from Rs. 6.61 lakhs to 7.65 lakhs,NRI fees 20 lakhs) have been published . This is the first time that the allotments for all categories including special categories like Physically disabled (PD),NCC, Ex-service etc along with other mandatory reservation categories were given. The NRI quota was also filled in the first allotment. The analysis of last ranks of the first allotment under state merit category to the medical courses under KEAM 2021 has indicated that the Government Medical College, Kozhikkode (LR-164) is the most preferred medical college followed by Government Medical College, Trivandrum(LR-271) and Kottayam(LR-408) . Regarding the BDS course , the Dental college of Kozhikode (LR-1753) is leading followed by Trivandum (LR-2215) and Kottayam (LR-2442) Dental colleges. The candidates up to the Kerala State Medical rank of 594 have received allotments to MBBS course in government sector under state merit category, while it reached to a level of 5698 in private self-financing medical colleges. Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute(LR-1082), Amala Institute of Medical Sciences(1414), Thrissur,.Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical College, Kolenchery (LR-1646) are the most preferred colleges under self-financing sector. The preferences towards self-financing medical colleges have shown a different trend as compared to KEAM 2020. In BDS course, the last rank of allotted candidate was 2679 in government sector as compared to 17388 of private self-financing dental colleges.
The economically weaker section candidates were allotted to MBBS course up to the rank of 2257 under government colleges while the last rank of allotted candidate to the self-financing college was 9656.The dental allotment to the corresponding category was 5142 and 19652 respectively.
It is observed that an improvement in the last ranks of allotted candidates under SM category as compared to last year.
