The second allotment (Phase 7) to the medical courses has included 10 government and 19 private self-financing medical colleges. The first allotment to 5 government and 9 private self-financing Ayurveda colleges and 5 Homoeo colleges were also done at this stage. Government Medical College, Kozhikkode is continued to be the most preferred medical college followed by Government Medical College, Trivandrum and Kottayam. Candidates up to the rank of 962 has received allotment under government medical colleges while private self-financing medical colleges it went up to 8955.The respective last ranks of BDS course were 4523 and 21644 for government and private self-financing dental colleges.
The allotments to the BAMS course have indicated that VPSV Ayurveda College, Kottakkal an aided college as the most demanded college by the aspirants. Candidates up to the rank of 6989 has received allotment under government sector colleges as compared to 16837 self-financing sector. In BHMS course the last rank of allotment was 8113 and the most preferred college was Homoeopathic college , Kozhikkode.
The trend of choosing allied courses like B.V.Sc & AH, B.Sc (Hon) Agriculture and B.Sc.Forestry ignoring the choices of MBBS course of private self-financing colleges has continued. The top priorities were assigned to B.V.Sc &AH (Last Rank -4172), B.Sc(Hon) Agriculture (Last Rank – 5600) and BSc.Forestry course (Last Rank- 6336).
The economically weaker (EW) section candidates were allotted to MBBS course up to the rank of 3129 and the last rank of allotted candidate to the medical courses is 11096 (BHMS) while allied courses received up to the rank of 8079 under the EW category.
It is further confirmed that the meritorious candidates have forced to choose the medical and allied courses like Veterinary science with last rank of allotment 4172, Agriculture with last Rank of allotment 5600 and BAMS course (Last Rank – 6989) while the last rank of allotment to MBBS course in self-financing medical colleges is 8955. The allotments to the medical courses under KEAM 2020 have proved the adverse impact of uncertain fees structure of medical education of the state.
