Thrissur: Renowned Gandhian thinker Dr Varsha Das said that Gandhian thoughts still have relevance and we should build a culture to live in peace. She was speaking after inaugurating the function to felicitate freedom fighters organized as part of 75 years of Gandhiji's visit to Mathrubhumi.
Dr Varsha is the former director of Rajghat National Gandhi Museum. We should develop a heart filled with peace and only from that heart simplicity will originate. Only with such a quality we will be able to hear others and believe them. Mutual understanding and belief creates a peaceful world, she said.
She said that many ideas which are being implemented presently as new ones were put into effect by Gandhiji earlier. Gandhiji never showed any reluctance to accept his mistakes and to modify the same. That is why his life became a message for the whole world.
The protests against slavery and injustice throughout the world have been influenced by Gandhism. Dr Varsha handed over gifts to11 freedom fighters on behalf of Mathrubhumi. Mathrubhumi Managing director M P Veerendra Kumar presided over the function. He said that Mathrubhumi is trying to help the newer generation to recollect that a man named Gandhiji lived here.
