Most Preferred Courses and Colleges under KEAM 2017 Allotments

The analysis of last ranks, after the closure of online allotments done by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) during 2017, has indicated specific trends of the prioritization of courses and colleges by the meritorious professional courses’ aspirants of Kerala state. In Engineering and Medical streams they had definite patterns of selection of colleges for their career moulding.

The choices of engineering aspirants have favoured College of Engineering, Trivandum (TVE) in all the seven among the ten most preferred engineering courses during 2017.The top meritorious candidates have chosen Computer Science Engineering as their first choice to join the College of Engineering, Trivandum for their higher studies. The last rank of allotment in Computer Science Engineering (CS) was 731 under state merit (SM) category and it was followed by Mechanical Engineering (Last Rank of ME-919 ), Electronics & Communications Engineering (Last Rank of EC-1004), Electrical & Electronics Engineering(Last Rank of EE-1712),Civil Engineering (Last Rank of CE-1875) and Applied Electronics (Last Rank of AE-3935) in the most preferred engineering college of the state. In addition, the Last rank of allotted candidates in Industrial Engineering (IE) course in the College of Engineering was 6076.The Architecture aspirants also preferred TVE as their destination of higher learning in professional courses. The other three most preferred courses were Chemical Engineering (CH) in Thrissur Government Engineering college with 3790 as the last rank of allotment followed by Diary Technology (DT) in College of Diary Science & Technology (Last Rank-7195) and Agricultural Engineering Course (AG) in Kelappaji College of Engineering & Technology, Tavanur with last rank of 7925.

In the case of government controlled engineering colleges, the candidates have opted Computer Science Engineering with last rank of allotment of 2272, Electronics & Communications Engineering (Last rank -3978) and Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Last rank -5928) courses in the most preferred college Model Engineering College, Trikkakara. The Mechanical Engineering course ( Last rank -6683) of Sri Chithira Thirunal College of Engineering and Civil Engineering(Last rank -8821) course of LBS Institute of Technology for women were also attracted by the top rankers in the prioritization of their options.

In medical stream, Medical College, Kozhikkode was the most preferred college for MBBS course with last rank of allotment of 344 followed by Trivandrum Medical College ( Last rank-385) and Kottayam Medical College(Last rank- 529).The top priorities were assigned by the BDS aspirants to Kozhikkode Dental College with last rank of allotment of 2333 while Trivandrum Dental college had allotment up to 2609 medical rank. In other medical allied courses, the preferred courses were B.V.Sc, B.Sc (Agriculture) and B.A.M.S courses with 3784, 4054 and 5004 as their respective medical allied last ranks of allotments.
