According to Wikepedia, "Medical microbiology is concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. It also studies various clinical applications of microbes for the improvement of health. The microorganisms that cause infectious disease are bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. One type of infectious protein is prion.
A medical microbiologist studies the characteristics of pathogens, their modes of transmission, mechanisms of infection and growth.Using this information, a treatment can be devised. Medical microbiologists often serve as consultants for physicians, providing identification of pathogens and suggesting treatment options. Other tasks may include the identification of potential health risks to the community or monitoring the evolution of potentially virulent or resistant strains of microbes, educating the community and assisting in the design of health practices. They may also assist in preventing or controlling epidemics and outbreaks of disease. Medical Microbiologists can get jobs in Laboratories of Super Specialty hospitals, research labs, etc.
Medical Biochemists, carry out diagnostic tests and investigations for finding out causes of diseases. They are engaged in the study of the role of genetic transmission of diseases from one generation to another.
Naturally super speciality hospitals and research units provide employment to them
They study the chemical changes that take place in cells of body parts which shows symptoms related to onset of various diseases such as tuberculosis, cancer, diabetes, mental disorders like epilepsy etc. They also carry out research related to identification and analysis of chemical processes like muscular contraction, reproduction, metabolism etc.
