My son is studying for B Tech 1st year. When should he start his CAT preparation?
Posted by Eapen Varghese, On 26.09.2007
View Answer
If he is very keen on CAT he should plan his studies to take the preparations for CAT along with the regular course itself. But he must first concentrate on the combined S1S2 course. Remember that in the first year and at the end of all semesters, there would be University examinations. If he is planning to go for any long term course for CAT, that is generally offered at the beginning of the 5th semester.

If I wish to change to Computer Science, can I shift, atleast next year,or this year itself if there are vaccant seats left??

No other formalities are to be completed for the time being. If there is a third allotment and if you do not wish a change of course/college you will have to cancel your higher options within the notified time. You can also rearrnge your higher options then. A change to CS is possible through re-allotment by CEE if you become eligible for it then. Usually a change of branch is not allowed in the second year of a course. You may contact the Academic section of the University for details regarding change in the second year. IT is a good branch. Try to do well in the allotted branch.
