Dear sir

My daughter had appeared for both KEAM and AIPMT final in 2008. During the recent AIPMT-2008 final exam, I met many parents and naturally we were all disucussing about the fee structure for MBBS in kerala self financing Medical colleges. My question is the following.

In the Data published by cee-kerala, it is given that the fee for MBBS under Govt. quota in self financing Medical colleges as Rs.20,000/- pa + a deposit ranging from Rs. 1.5 to 2.5 Lakhs. But many parents were telling that finally all the students (including those got admission under Govt. quota!) had to pay a fee of 1.36 Laks as per Mohammed committee's report.

Was it correct? Can u please verify that give ur valuable opinion on that so that ordinary salaried class parents can hope for a MBBS admission for thier children in self financing colleges?

Sorry Sir, that my question is too long! But I wanted to ask this matter in detail.

You say that your daughter has appeared for KEAM 2008 and AIPMT Final. Hence last year's fee is not a matter for concern for you. This year final decision is not yet reached so far as fees in Med and Engg colleges are concerned. It will take some more time.

I have scored 432 marks in the engineering stream of KEAM-2008...and i want to know the range in which i can expect a rank...i have been going through all the questions asked by other students regarding their marks and the ranks they can expect...and your reply to all of them has been very vague...we know that there will be a variation in rankings every year...but that is not what we want to knw...we just want an idea as to what rank was received for that particular mark in the previous year...so to avoid all the confusion could you provide the mark and the corresponding rank received last year in your portal...as an expert team you'll sure have all the required data....sir, im sorry for the inconvinience...but the problem is that the results come out very late and the private colleges(outside kerala) have already called for counselling...so unless i get a rough idea as to what rank to expect i wont be able to decide whether to attend the other counsellings....kindly reply...

First of all we congratulate you for putting such a question straight away. Your mark is very good and you will not need to go to private colleges. Pl. don't be hurry. There is sufficient time before you since you are an engg aspirant. For medical admission there is a deadline for admission and hence reason for hurry. Why we don't give the range is beacuase, the difference in marks and the ranks are not even imaginable at times. For example, last year the cut off mark for AIPMT previous exam was 285. But this year it has come down to 184. See the difference. Can you believe it? In such a situation, by simply taking last year's figures, if a prediction is done it won't be worthwhile. I have an MA and MPhil in English literature. I would like to do PhD in Journalism. Is it possible to apply for PhD in Journalism with an MA in English.If there is such please suggest the institutes that offer such facility.

In normal cases this is difficult. But you can do it where interdisciplinary research is allowed. In Kerala , there is no facility for this. Probably University of Madras or Kota University of Rajasthan may have this facilities . If your interest is only to do research in Journalism, and not to take the Doctorate in it, you can do it in Kerala too. But the PhD will be in English. For example, you can select a topic which combines both Journalism and English like " Growth of English Newspapers in Kerala with special focus on their content and influence among students ". OK? Did you get it ?
I have just completed plus two on science stream(phy, che, maths, bio_i want to know about BIO INFORMATICS.In kerala where i can study this course, Bsc bio informatics? Whats needed qualification and all???????

A very good article on Bio informatics is already there in this portal. In the homepage you can see a link to ARTICLES. Click on it and find the article. It is written by Dr.Achuthsankar S Nair, who is the Hon.Director of Bio informatics Dept of Kerala University and also an international expert on the subject.
when will the KEAM - 2008 results be declared?????and what abt the counselling????

It is expected by 25th of May. Counselling date cannot be predicted now as it is not yet decided by the authorities.

I like to know about the exam pattern of JRF. Is the rank list of JRF and NET is published on the basis of same entrance examination.How it is done?

All the three are more or less of same nature and standard. BCA has no special demand in the job market nor it a requirement for admission to MCA.
