Production Engineering in Mechanical stream aims at optimum co-ordination between
manufacturing processes , plant , manpower and managerial policies with the objective of having maximum productivity with most economical input of capital Resources. Production engineers are concerned with increasing of production by making use of suitable technology, deriving right design, choosing right materials and implementing appropriate procedures. Engineers are employed mainly in manufacturing units of companies belonging to a wide range of industries. Job avenues exist in industries both in the country and outside. It is more narrow when compared to Mechanical. Students prefer Mechanical to other by products of Mechanical. It is not because of the lack of opportunitites, may be to avoid any risk.

You apply to the CEE as per the note below Clause 11.4.7 of the Prospectus. You have to take a DD for Rs.100/- in the name of Commissioner for Entrance Examinations and forward the request to the Commissioner for Entrance EXaminations. Being at Kollam, if you go to CEE office, you can collect the same immediately. Since you have other documents with you like Data Sheet etc., you can ask for some time to produc it if you do not get it by 5th.
Now that those students have approached the high court again can we expect a fees change again? Is it likely that court will interfere with the allotment

The freedom to choose a course should always be given to the candidate since it is the candidate who has to study and write the examination. But guidance can be taken from parents as they are older to you and also may have experience. They will not misguide you. The work of a EC engineer is different from that of ME engineer if each sticks on to the field of study undertaken, like a job in the concerned field only or higher studies in the concerned field etc. So if you are planning to go for higher studies after B.Tech, the branch of your choice may be given preference. But if you are looking only for a placement after B.Tech, the branch may not matter. Anyway, EC at Barton Hill is preferred by canddiates over ME there, as per last ranks.

No. You can retain the receipt received earlier and also carry it with you when going to the college for admission. The excess amount will be refunded by the office of the CEE on closing of admissions for 2008.
My daughter got allotment in IT in KMEA College. I had put EI in KMEA College ahead of IT KMEA while regestering opions. It is heard that there will not be any higher option allotment to Pvt SFCs. Can we change to EI in KMEA without the knowledge of CEE if the College authorities are willing ?

The govt allotment to your child will be to IT only.. You are able to get this allotment with a fee of Rs,30750/- only since it is a Government seat. Once you change to a Management seat you will naturally be governed by a different fee structure for the entire course. IF you are willing to be governed by that, there would be no problem provided the Management gives allotment to you when the Managments can fill up the vacant seats in a branch.

You have to wait and see since the re-allotments depend on a number of factors. Mechanical Automobile relates to the study of Mechanical Engineering in general with more emphasis on Automobiles. It is more narrow when compared to Mechanical Engg but with the motor industry booming, you can expect enough opportunities.
