As per general preference, EC stands above CS. But both have prospects as far a s employment is concerned. Naturally EC has wider prospects as EC graduates can go to the IT field also. So first decide the course you prefer. Both the options are good. But whether it is EC or CS, Model is preferred by students, going by the last ranks.
Please tell me about the scope for b tech in chemical engineering.

Chemical engineering deals with the application of physical science with mathematics, to the process of converting raw materials or chemicals into more useful or valuable forms. In addition to producing useful materials, chemical engineering is also concerned with pioneering valuable new materials and techniques, an important form of research and development. Chemical engineering largely involves the design and maintenance of chemical processes for large-scale manufacture. Opportunities for Chemical Engineers are available in chemical process and petrochemical industries, pharmaceutical, health care, pulp and paper; food processing, polymer, biotechnology, environmental health, safety industries, chemical or fertilizer plants, petroleum refineries, plastics and yarn manufacturing companies, food and mineral processing industries etc.
Polymer Engineering is the branch my son has tentatively been allotted by CEE, Kerala.
I would like to know more about this course — scope of the subject, career opportunities and options after the completion of the course.
Is Diary Science or Production Engineering better than Polymer Engineering?
Your advice will be very much appreciated.

Polymers are naturally occurring or synthetic substances like Proteins, cellulose, plastics, and rubber. Polymers can be moulded into permanent shapes as in the case of plastics, or drawn out into fibres as in the textile industry. Polymer engineering is generally an engineering field that designs, analyses, and/or modifies polymer materials. Polymer engineering covers aspects of petrochemical industry, polymerization, structure and characterization of polymers, properties of polymers, compounding and processing of polymers and description of major polymers, structure property relations and applications. Polymeric materials science, composites, polymeric fluids, analysis and design of polymer processing operations, polymerisation reactor engineering, moulds and machines in polymer industry, manufacturing techniques, special polymers for biomedical and aerospace applications, testing and quality control, and industrial applications are some of the elements of the curriculum. Polymer engineers develop new artificial polymers that can replace timber, metal, and glass, in order to achieve economy in manufacture. Fire-resistant polymers can ensure safety compared to conventional materials. Qualified hands are in demand in several industrial units and research organisations in India and abroad.
The dairy science program covers basic principles of animal nutrition, physiology, lactation, genetics, reproduction, and enterprise management as well as natural sciences, animal biology, breeding, reproduction, nutrition, finance, and information management. The course focuses on milk and milk-derived food products from a food science perspective. It studies the biological, chemical, physical, and microbiological aspects of milk and the technological processing aspects of transformation of milk into its various consumer products, including beverages, fermented products, concentrated and dried products, butter and ice cream.
Job opportunities exist in National Dairy Development Board, Dairy Development Departments, dairy plants, dairy farms, cooperatives, rural banks, milk product processing and manufacturing industries, and organisations like Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (MILMA). Self employment is also possible. Research and development, and teaching are other options.
You cannot compare the two Programmes as they are entirely different as far their contents, job prospects etc., are concerned.

BCA is a bachelors Programme while MCA is a Post Graduate programme. B.Tech is a 4 year course after Plus 2 while MCA takes three years after a three year Degree Course (total 6 years after Plus Two). There may not be much difference between MCA and B.Tech. But by doing a B.Tech you are in the job market 4 years after your plus two. In IT field, in the private sector, there is no preference to degree but it is your knowledge that matters. But there are jobs which specifically require B.Tech Graduates. Jobs for CS B.Tech holders are mainly in the IT sector. There are Government Departments State/Central which offers jobs for B.Tech CS graduates.

College of Engg, Trivandrum has a better standing and is a highly demanded college in any case. There are a number of students who wish to get any branch there to become a student of CET. Regarding EC and EE, the general preference is for EC as per last ranks. EC and EE have opportunities for higher studies as well as employment. EE is a core branch and hence has its importance. So as far as you are concerned, now you have to choose between EC and CET. If you do not have any specific preference for branch, then CET will not be a wrong choice. But once you decide on it and get re-allotted to EE at CET, always think that you have taken the right decision. At any stage, do not think that you should have taken EC, but always think that you have taken the best possible decision. Now it is left to you and your parents to decide. Good luck.
my sister is doing B A English in a govt.college kasaragod.my qestion is what are the choices for further studies.kindly reply for this.

Generally, students doing BA Literature try to get admission for MA English. You can go for B.Ed after BA in English. But these days there are other areas also where you can compete like Management, Journalism, Tourism etc, depending on your taste.

The fee in Medical Colleges would be subject to the final decisions in the pending case before the High Court. You should not get upset over such things since these are things beyond your control. If there are decisions which may affect your adversely, there will always be some remedy for that. Be optimistic.

Dear Sir,
My daughter is studying in Polytechnic for Electronics after SSLC this year.Since she got the admission in Polytechnic in merit list I admitted her in the poly. Most ofthe students are +2.Since she is only SSLC after completion of the diploma is there any problem doing B Tech by lateral Entry Scheme? Will she face any problem because she did not do +2 for higher studies?I did not want to waste 2yrs as she could get the admission in poly.Is there any way she could also do +2 by distance education for which she is willing and ready to do the hard work?Did I make the right choice for her to take admission in Poly without +2 or did I go wrong?
Kindly update me.
Regards,
Vinod

The CEE has informed that those allotted to Private SF Engg Colleges are eligible to exercise higher options and that candidates in these colleges getting higher options should be relieved. So for the time being believe what the CEE has notified. Do not get upset.
