He must have applied by now for the Kerala Engg Entrance. AIEEE etc. The decision on College depends on the rank that he gets. There are over 80 colleges for Engg in Kerala. If your ward have to get a seat with Government fee he has to get a good rank. See the link http://cee-kerala.org/engmed/2008/allt/FinalPhase/lrank_221008.pdf for last ranks of 2008 in Govt/Aided/Govt supported colleges.

The Diploma that you get from the Institution has to be recognised as equivalent to the 3-year Diploma of DTE Kerala. This has to be ascertained from the office of the DTE, Trivandrum. If it is equivalent, you can appear for Kerala Lateral Entry.

If you have GATE Score you can do M.Tech with Fellowships. There are colleges in Kerala and Tamil Nadu that consider candidates without GATE score if there are seats vacant after admitting GATE qualified applicants. This might be specified in the Notification also. So keep watching the Notifications of various Institutions. However, you will not be eligible for fellowship if admitted.

This is an important turning point in your daughter's life as you have to take a decision whether to continue in Science stream, Humanities or Commerce streams. If she has a taste for Mathematics and not in the other Science subjects, Architecture or Commerce or even Economics could be a good choice. If she has interest in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, she can look for some Medical/Agriculture courses. A third stream possible is the Engg stream where she will have to handle Maths, Physics etc to a large extent. If she has good reading habits, she can try the Humanities/Social Science Stream. So try to identify her potential and take a decision. Good luck!
