If the trend of 2008 continues as such in 2009 and you get the marks you have calculated, your rank should be very much better than 26000.

Mechanical is a core branch like civil , electrical and electronics. These core branches will have demand always. Can you think of a world without machines? So, if your plan is to join mechanical, proceed without fear. At present reputed Indian companies like L&T,Kirloskar, Mahindra and Mahindra, HAL , Siemens etc recruit mechanical people on a regular basis.

Riyas, we are unable to read your mind, since you have mentioned a number of varied courses. It does not point to a specific area. If you are so particular and have deep interest in Electronics , with the rank you mentioned it will not be difficult to get admission. Be optimistic. Good Luck.
I have got a score of 139 in Engg entrance and 249 in medical .What ranks can I expect corresponding to these scores?

First of all you didn't mention about the reservation possibilities if any. Hence we hope that you are from forward community. As such, with this mark of 249, it seems almost impossible to get admission for MBBS/BDS. Anyway with a mark of 139, you may be able to get into engg.college. This is based on purely last year's marks and ranks. There may be wide differences this year. Let us hope for the best. Best Luck.
