The closing ranks for the different categories in each participating institution is given in detail at http://aieee.nic.in/ccb2009/ORCR09/stream.htm. Please go through that and you will get to know your chances if the pattern of 2008 continues in 2009.

Could you please comment on the rating of Vit Unviersity in Vellore in comparison to other Engineering insititutions in India. (Such as IIT, Birla institue of Technology etc)

VIT is certainly one of the colleges preferred by the students. But IITs and BITS Pilani stands ahead of it in student preferences.

For my +2 course, I have 73% aggregate for Maths, Physics & Chemistry combination and 70%+ for individual subjects.Unfortunately, I couldn’t appear for the KEAM 2009 due to an accident. Could you please confirm whether I should have appeared for KEAM 2009 to apply for NRI quota with the Self Financing Engineering Colleges in Kerala, for this year? My father is an NRI.

For NRI admissions, appearance or rank in KEAM is not insisted. The selection is based on the marks in the qualifying examination.

The rank corresponding to mark of 715 for Medical in 2008 was around 350. It need not be like that this year.

In 2008, for engg, a mark of 261 had a rank around 4600. It need not be like that in 2009.

Chemical Engg is good if you have the interest particularly in Chemistry. Job opportunities exist in Chemical Plants, Pharmaseutical companies, Oil companies etc. Girls can do the course as boys can. There are 3 colleges, Govt College, Kozhikode, Govt College Trissur and TKM Engg College comin under the purview of CEE allotment offering BTech Chemcial Engg.

In 2008, this mark had rank near 100 in Medical stream. It need not be like this in 2009. A candidate getting a rank of 100 should not have much difficulty in getting a seat for MBBS at any Govt Medical College.
