Usually the Universities invite applications for admission to their Ph.D Programmes in the beginning of the academic year. Some Universites have Entrance Examination for admission to Ph.D. You will have to first identify a Guide with whom you can register. Each Guide can admit only limited number of students for reasearch. So if a Guide has vacancy, he/she may admit you. It is better to approach the Guide with a brief idea on the subject you are planning to take for the research work. Once the application is submitted, there would be a Doctoral Committee meeting to evaluate the candidate before admitting for the research work. Once the Committee approves, you will be granted registration for doing the research work in the Department. Research can be undertaken in the University Departments as well in affiliated Colleges which have approved research departments. You get all the details at http://keralauniversity.edu/research.htm#1. The procedure is almost the same in all Univerties.
Sir,
My daughter has secured 6th rank in category in the CUSAT exam. We are eligible for reservation under intercaste marriage as per KEAM rules. As per the prospects of Cusat it says that all rules for reservation in KEAM will also apply in CUSAT.I would like to know whether my daughter is eligible for reservation as child of intercaste married couples.
Thanks.
Vinod.

If your child has applied for reservation benefits and Category rank has been granted based on it, your child will be eligible for reservation benefits. KEAM has SEBC reservation for Ezhava, Muslim, Backward Christian, Latin Catholic other than Anglo Indian, Backward Hindu and Kudumbi. Then there is reservation for SC/ST. Depending on the category to whciht the candidate belongs, she will be considered for allotment with that reservation benefit.

Last ranks of 2008 are not officially published. Morevover, there is a major change in admisisons principles at CUSAT this year as compared to 2008. So a meaningful evaluation of the possibilities cannot be made.
