You may be refering to IIST Trivandrum. The IIST has not publsihed the last ranks admitted in 2008 for various categories to make an assessment of the chances. Rememebr that there are only limited seats at IIST.

In 2008, this mark of 220 for Engg got a rank around 7000. It need not be like this in 2009.
i sored 641 marks in the kerala medical entrance exam.what would be my rank and my chance to get MBBS

Photonics is the study or application of electromagnetic energy whose basic unit is the photon, incorporating optics, laser technology, electrical engineering, materials science, and information storage and processing. In short, it is the study of transmission of information via light. The range of application of Photonics extends from energy generation and detection to communication and information processing. You can find careers in high-technology companies, photonics-related companies in particular , do Research in academic laboratories and research institutes, R& D of new photonic products in industry, Technical support in a company for its products or services, Technical marketing and sales Whether the course is good for you or not, depends on you taste. As one who has the anxiety to know about it, it has to be understood that you have some interest in it.

in cbse plus two i got 95% in maths, 95% in physics & 91% in chemistry. My rank in cusat is 4671 gen and 181 obh, aieee all india rank 87626 cat rank 20124, state rank 3830, cat 1517. can i expect selection in a good institute? also let me know engg courses is should select.

Your chances of admission to any course or college mainly depends on the options of candiates ahead of you in rank. You can see the trends of admissions of 2008 by going through the available closing ranks of varuious agencies. AIEEE last ranks of 2008 are given at http://aieee.nic.in/ccb2009/ORCR09/stream.htm, that of KEAM at http://www.cee-kerala.org/engmed/2008/allt/round2/last_rank_P2_310808.pdf and http://www.cee-kerala.org/engmed/2008/allt/FinalPhase/lrank_221008.pdf CUSAT does not publish the last ranks officially. It need not be like this in 2009 but you get an idea of your chances. Regarding the branch to be selected, there are nearly 30-35 branches in Engg. The selection depends on your taste. Broad calssifications can be Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Chemical, Biotechnology etc. From this you identify which is good for you and go into the details of that particular branch.

The rank was around 14200 for a mark of 152 in Engg in 2008. This need not be the same this year.
i have got 249 marks in kerala entrance 2009 ,what rank can i expect,and also will the maths marks be counted again to the total marks ?

You have not specified whether it is in Medical or Engg. Since you have asked about Maths, it is presumed, it relates to Engg. This mark of 249 in 2008 in Engg had a rank around 5200 which need not repeat in 2009. The admission to B.Tech is purely based on the rank in KEAM 2009. Mark in MAths or oin any othe subject in the qualifying exam is not considered for ranking. Ranking in KEAM is based on mark in Entrance Exam only now.

Rank for mark of 225 for Engg in 2008 was a round 6650 in 2008. It need not be the same in 2009.
