It is a good course for one who has interest in it. Any course for that matter is good for a person only if one is interested in it. You cannot fare well in a course if it is taken out of compulsion or based on general trends etc. The scope of a subject 4 years from now, cannot be foreseen. Opportunities for chemical engineers are available in chemical process and petrochemical industries, pharmaceutical, health care, pulp and paper; food processing, polymer, biotechnology, environmental health, safety industries, chemical or fertilizer plants, petroleum refineries, plastics and yarn manufacturing companies, food and mineral processing industries etc. These areas have relevance at all times.

Forestry is the science related to forests, managing forests,plantations, and related natural resources.Modern forestry generally concerns itself with assisting forests to provide timber as raw material for wood products. The B.Sc Forestry course with an internship of one semester covers areas such as agro forestry and social forestry, agronomy, biochemistry, economics, entomology, environmental forestry, extension education etc. The syllabus also includes allied courses from agriculture, horticulture, agricultural engineering, information technology, biotechnology and other basic sciences. Job opportunities exist in Indian Forest Service, forest departments of governments, development organisations, forest based industrial units, wild life management organisations, decorative / urban forestry, training institutions, and research establishments. Postgraduate and research programmes are also available.

The fee in Government seat is the amount indicated in the Home page of the candidate against the option. You will have to pay Caution Deposit, University fees etc. in addition to that when joining college. There is no locking facility as  such for KEAM Option Registration as in AIEEE Option Registration. You log out properly from the website after saving the options registerd. Keep a print out of the list for future reference. You can give more than one option in the same colleges for different branches (like EC, CS, ME etc in the same college are differnet options). You will be considerd for all of them. For a particular course in a  particular college, you will not be able to give more than one option.

There is no difference in the course structure in the two types of colleges. The degrees awarded also have the same value. But Government Colleges are owned by the Government while Private SF Colleges are owned and run by Private Agencies who do not get financial assistance from Government. This is the reason for the difference in fee structure in the two categories of colleges. 

Job avenues for Chemical Engineers cannot be compared to the avenues now in IT related field. That does not mean there is no openings for this category. There are plenty but are limited to certain areas. Chemical engineering largely involves the design and maintenance of chemical processes for large-scale manufacture. The Option registration is going on. Some idea on the chances for allotment to a particular option can be understood when the trial allotments are announced on 12th. So see that and do the necessary changes if necessary.
