Sir,
It is better to join Chemical Engineering in NIT or Mechanical Engg in CET.Pls reply sir

The two institutions are in demand by Engg aspirants of Kerala, But it seems NIT has a slight edge. So if you are looking at the Institution only, NIT may get priority. But branch wise, ME is more demanded that Chemical going by past trends. Moreover,Chmical Engg restricts you to one area. But if that is your desire, ther is no harm in choosing that at NIT. So you have to compromise between College and Branch. If you are open to both, ME at CET has slight edge. You can have a different view. You may act as per your decision.

The best branch one can take is the one that suits most the individual. This can be identified only by the person to do the course identifying his/her strengths and weaknesses. Try to identify that. You can get an idea of the trends of allotment of 2008 by going through the last ranks of 2008 at http://www.cee-kerala.org/engmed/2008/LRANK_2008A.pdf This can give an idea of the student preferences only,. If you do not have any specific desire and wish to go by student preferences in gneral, this may guide you.

It has not been officially announced so far. But the Prospectus shows that out of 850 seats in 5 colleges, there are 127 All India Quota seats, 29 Nomination seats not coming within the purview of CEE allotment,. Thus there are 694 seats in the allotment. From this 3% will go to PD category (21 approximately) and 26 as Special Reservation, leaving approximately 647 seats for mandatory reservation.
