Microbiology is the study of microorganisms which are unicellular or cell-cluster microscopic organisms. It refers to the study of life and organisms that are too small to be seen with the naked eye. It is reaserch oriented subject and so on must have a taste for that subject. Opportunities and Job openings are available in research and development in the medical, pharmaceutical and agricultural fields.

You can apply for Central Sector Scholarship (state's share). This year's notification has not come. The resposibility is with the Scholarship Special Officer, Trivandrum,under Director of Collegiate Education. Wait for some more days. Meanwhile you read about it and check whther you are eligible to apply through this link. Click Here.

It is doubtful if there is any University offering M.Tech in Mechanical Engg through correspondence. If you are not employed, why dont you go for a regular M.Tech course with fellowship after attending GATE ?

In Kerala, Model Engineering College, Ernakulam, affiliated to the Cochin University of Science and Technology with an intake of 40 seats, and the Sahrdaya College of Engineering and Technology, Kodakara, Thrissur , affiliated to the University of Calicut with 60 seats conduct B.Tech. biomedical engineering courses. Admission to the merit seats is based on the State-level Engineering Entrance Examination. Outside Kerala the following are some good institutions offering Biomedical.

The Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology, Pondicherry - 607 402 (Phone 0413 2615086, 2611421), www.balajitrust.org - B.Tech., biomedical engineering.

A biomedical engineer's role is in connection with hospitals or R&D labs or bio medical equipment manufacturing companies. They are supposed to conceive and design medical equipments like ECG, EEG,Color Dopler, Scanners, Xray machines, Radiological equipments, artificial heart valves etc. More and more equipments are being designed and devoloped on a fast phase. A biomedical engineer is a must in five star hospitals where these machines are subject to faults at anytime.
