This is regarding the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College & University Students 2009. My son has applied for this scholarship when he got admission in CEK, Kottarakkara. Now from the last allotment he was able to get a seat in GEC, SKP and will be joining within 2 days. Is it necessary to inform this change of college to the HRD ministry? Please advise me what I should do now. I would appreciate it very much if you could give me a reply immediately.
Thank you

It will be better if you inform the change of college to MHRD. Otherwise, for renewal next year, there may be troubles. Better go the straight way. OK?

Is a 3-year polytechnic diploma equivalent to degree so that I can seek admission to a degree programme in Indian Universities?

It is not equivalent to a Degree course. With a 3 year Diploma you can seek admission to B.Tech or second year of B.Tech through lateral entry.
is it true that bds has no demand now

This year's admission picture gives such an image though it may be different in reality. Observers feel that the number of dental colleges are too much in India , much more than actual requirement. It is not apt to say that BDS has no demand. It had less takers this year. Hope you understand what we mean.

My son was offered admission at IISER Tiruvanandapuram, NIT Kozhikode (Chemical Engineering), M.Sc (Photonics), B.Tech (Marine Engineering), B. Tech (Naval Architecture) (all the last three at CUSAT) and BE Mechanical Engineering at BITS Pilani Goa campus. He preferred BITS Goa and is now studying there. He is a first year student and there is a possibility to get a sliding up to EEE or CS after the 2nd semester.
Please advise me whether it is better to opt to slide up to EEE or CS. His marks in PCM for +2 (CBSE) is 95%.

First of all, we congratulate your son for this achievement. His decision, as we understand, is good. Why should you think about a change of branch? BE in Mechanical at BITS Pilani is one the best options he had choosen. CS and EEE are behind ME this year considering the aptitude of students and current global scenario. If you take this year's state engg allotments also you can find that ME and CE have move forward very much. Pl. don't get confused over the branch. Mechanical is a core branch which has scope always. We wish him all luck.
