AS per the eligibility for Engg Services Exam 2009, one eligibility condition is that the candidate should have obtained a Degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. So that does not prevent a Computer Science cnadiate from applying. But there is no paper in Computer Science, for the exam.

You may specify which university awarded this degree so that we can clarify with that university. So ask again with those details

Coaching for entrance Examinations is taken up by a good number of students these days for one reason or the other. It might help one to do systematic work in the course of preparation which might not be practically possible if one plans on his/her own with a time table. Coaching centres train candidates so that they get more practice in doing questions. They might guide students with shortcuts for answering questions. But it is never a necessity if one has a systematic way of doing things. One can work out as many problems or questions as possible by examining old question papers etc. Time factor is very important in Entrance Examinations. You can gain speed in doing problems by practice only. So if one has the will to do all these things, it may be possible to proceed without a coaching centre. One must also have the confidence for that. We do not recommend any particular coaching centre.

Applicants should have completed17 years of age as on the 31st December 2010 as per Kerala Prospectus 2010. You complete this age before that. So you are eligible. If one completes 17 years after 31st December, he/she is not eligible.
