M.Phil stands for Master of Philosophy. It is a degree that could be taken after Post Graduation. If you plan to do M.Phil in English you must have a MA in English Language and Literature. This is one year course (2 semesters). It generally includes a course work and a dissertation. Ph.D stands for Doctor of Philosophy. This is also a research degree that can be done after PG or after M.Phil. Some Universtiies have entrance Examinations for admission to Ph.D. The research has to be done under the guidance of a supersvisor approved by the University. This is an individual work. University Departments run M.Phil course and Ph.D Course. Some Colleges like the University College, Trivandrum conduct M.Phil course. Ph.D can be done in affiliated colleges that have approved research departments.

I was doing my first year Mtech at NIT calicut. But 2 months later I dropped the course as I got a job offer letter from an MNC. I had to pay the full fees for getting back my certificates from NIT. I hadnt completed 3 months from the date of joining there. I would like to know whether I am able to get back my money if I go to court. pls reply sir

This will depend on the rules related to admissions of the Institute. There would be some clause in the Prospectus that speaks on the matter. Examine that and act accordingly.

Usually Universities schedule their exams in such a way that it does not clash with the KEAM schedule. Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations also generally ensures such things, it is understood. So hope there would not be any clash.
My student will complete plus two this year. She wants to study jewel design course in Thrissur or in any other nearby district. Could you please inform in detail some good colleges that offer this course in Thrissur and other nearby districts in kerala.

In our knowledge there are no such courses being conducted in Kerala. We believe there are such openings in Chennai and Bangalore.

Our enquiries revealed that the Rajagiri Institute at Kochi has plans to start courses of Gemmological Institute of America from next year. You need to contact the Rajagiri Institute Authorities for further details.

In 2009, the annual tuition fee at Bangalore and Amritapuri was Rs.60000/-, while at Ettimadai, it was Rs.65,000/-. One will have to pay other fee also at the time of admission and also some one time fee. The total amount to be paid at the time of admission in 2009 was a round 90000/- to 1,00,000/-. For the position in 2010, you will have to wait for the Prospectus.

You can directly clarify this doubt with IGNOU at their Kochi centre. The phone number is 0484-2348189/2340203. The IGNOU centre is near Kaloor bus stand, Kochi.

would you please specify the pay scale of a J.T.O in BSNL and of a probationary officer in nationalised banks. please also specify the promotion, salary increment and other benifits between these two.

A probationary officer will draw a starting basic pay of Rs.11,880/- In the scale of Rs.10,000-470/6-12820-500/3-14320-560/7-18240 applicable to Officers Junior Management Grade Scale I. They will also be eligible for D.A., H.R.A. & C.C.A. as per rules in force from time to time. At present, initial monthly emoluments of Probationary Officers, including D.A., H.R.A. and C.C.A., are approximately Rs.16,850/- at Metropolitan centres.

The post of J.T.O. is in the IDA pay-scale of Rs. 9850-250-14600. There are enough promotion avenues in both the cadres and it depends on your mettle.
