So far as mining education is concerned the most famous institution in India is Indian Institute of Mining, Dhanbad. Website http://www.ismdhanbad.ac.in/ Besides, some IITs too offer this course. Since you are in the pre-final year stage of your BTech course next year you can apply. Write GATE next year and ensure a good score. Geophysics MSc is there at CUSAT. You will have to apply separately there next year. Almost all admission notifications are being carried in this portal regularly. Keep on watching . Wish you all the best.

I am a medical aspirant from Alleppey. I may get ranked from 4500 to 5000 in med and 3500 to 4000 in engg KEAM 2010. So should i repeat next time for med or opt for engineering? I'm not interested in engg at all. I'm very much interested in the feild of genetics, embryology, microbiology, biotechnology. How can I adopt genetics or something concerned with molecular and DNA technology in the feild of biology. I'd like to a scientist in the field of biology if i don't become a doctor. So what course should i take after +2? I may get 75% to 85% in CBSE +2.Kindly reply as it concerns my future.

Your confusion is genuine. We won't advise you to repeat. It is mainly because there is no assurance of getting the seat or improving your position in the next entrance. If the entrance next year is more difficult than this year what you will do ? Another risk is about your health. After sacrificing one year and studying intensely throughout next year if a fever disturbs you( that won't happen. Anyway we have to consider it too) the entire effort becomes useless and you become upset. So think that this is your fate and turn to BSc Biotechnology or Genetics . These courses are being run in a good manner at Govt college, Kariavattam,TVM. You can apply there. To be frank, Biotechnology is more attractive than medicine. You know it.
