I passed B.Sc. Geology and scored 134 marks (44.67%) in English out of 300. I understand the eligibility to apply for M.A. English is 45% or precisely 135 marks which means I am shy of "1" mark.
I was concentrating in my main and subsidiary subjects and scored +80% but didn’t give too much importance to the English paper then. Now I wish to apply for M.A. English (private). Please advise if there is a chance that I can go ahead.

You have to meet the eligibility criteria. You may once again check with the university the percentage of marks needed.
Otherwise you may contact IGNOU at its Kochi centre, whether they can help you out. You may get their address from their website http://ignourckochi14.net/ It is reputed university worldwide

IT depends on the student. You may find the basics in the subject a bit more easy. Anyway course in computer science is not mandatory for admission to the B.Tech course.
