Production Engineers deal with Manufacturing and effectively managing the Production sectors in the industries and also work in the R & D sector. The curriculum aims at development of analytical approach, managerial skills, entrepreneurship qualities, technical knowledge and gives updated and practical hands-on experience to work with typical machineries from basic machines to computer controlled machines.

An instrument is a device that measures or manipulates variables such as flow, temperature, level, or pressure. Instrumentation is the branch of science that deals with measurement and control. Instrumentation & Control Engg covers areas such as adaptive control systems, analytical instrumentation, biomedical instrumentation, calibration and electronic measurements, computer aided design of control systems, computer organisation, digital and optimal control systems, digital signal processing, electronic and laser instrumentation, embedded and real time systems, industrial instrumentation, linear and digital ic applications, micro electromechanical systems, micro processors and interfacing, neural network and fuzzy logic, pc based instrumentation, power plant instrumentation, prime movers and mechanical components, principles of communications, process control instrumentation , pulse and digital circuits, robotics and automation, sensors and signal conditioning, signals and systems, switching theory and logic design , telemetry and tele-control, transducers and instrumentation, and virtual instrumentation.
Job opportunities are mostly in manufacturing industries using process control, design of control systems, instrument manufacturing plants, and research organisations.

Category list shows the position of a candidate in the General rank list, having a reservation benefit, among those having the same reservation benefit as that of the candidate. For example, if you have EZ reservation and if your category position is given as 12, it means you are the 12th candidate having EZ reservation as per the rank in the Entrance. With the knowledge on category position, you will get a rough idea of the chance for admission at least in the category seats. However when allotments are made, you will be considered as a SM candaite first and if there are no seats in SM to be allotted as per your option, your chances under reservation seats will be considered.

Every branch of Engg requires a minimum effort to pass. There is no specific branch that cannot be taken by girls. If you have interest in a branch, then you must go for it. But it is seen that girls keep away from Mechanical branch may be because they feel it would be a tough branch. That is not so. If you are looking for a branch that may not be very difficult to handle, it might be IT and CS not because they do not have the ingrdiemnts of an Engg branch like ME or CE, but because the area is now familar to all right from school days.
