Civil engineering deals with the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of buildings, roads, bridges, dams, tunnels, railway lines, harbours, and aerodromes. Water supply, irrigation, flood control, sewerage, and transportation are other vital areas of study.

Architecture is a convergence of creativity in art and exactness in technology. It demands gift of imagination, a right sense of aesthetics, and the sharp precision of an engineer. It is primarily the art and technique of designing and building, as distinguished from the skills associated with construction.

Architecture deals with spaces and gives an aesthetic value to engineering. It is a mix of creativity and engineering. An architect visualises when there is nothing on the ground. The civil engineer, gives a physical form to what the architect has thought.

Departments under the Central and State Governments, autonomous organisations / private firms engaged in design and construction, agencies for urban / rural development, Housing Boards, Construction Corporations, Town and Country Planning Organisations, National Building Organisation, City Development Authorities, and Educational / Research institutions offer job opportunities for architects. Those interested in self-employment can go for design and consultancy, either alone or in association with other architects. The scope is unlimited for the right person.

All India rank is the criterion but the allotment under HS quoat will be restricted to those in the HS category only.
sir my aieee aii india rank is 30945 and my state rank is 1116 .can i get ME in NIT Calicut .I looked into the last years allotment list ,but in the list it is given that the opening and closing rank in op for ME (based on HS) is 4000 to 7000 .I would like to know much more about it .so plesse give me a reply sir

All the ranks given in Opening and closing ranks is the All India Rank. so it may be difficult to get allotted for ME at NIT C, as per the trend of 2009. Give options and see.
