It depends on the seat that you take in the private SF college and the time factor. There would not be any problem in discontinuing but you will have to abide by the conditions imposed.

If you get an allotment in the first round, you are bound to pay fee for that failing which you will lose the allotment and you will not be considered in future allotments. It is expected that you have registered only those options you want/like. If you do not want to be considered against an option, do not register that. So the question of getting an allotment that you do not want /like does not arise at all. Be very careful in selecting and registering the options. Fee payment can be done by anyone on your behalf carrying the allotment memo and also Admit card. Date of joining colleges will be announced by the CEE in due course. It may be only after a few rounds of allotment.

The link "B.Tech General Instructions" at http://cusat.nic.in/counselling_schedule1.htm is not active now. It just shows the way in which things are handled at Universities. So we are unable to provide the correct information. A similar notification related to lateral entry is available at http://cusat.nic.in/pdf/CSchedule/LET%20REVISED.pdf A reading of that gives the impression that you will have to carry all documents related to your academic eligibility, age and other details and also the fee.Being at Kochi, why not you visit CUSAT admission wing and clarify your doubt. Your anxiety is understood. WE are on the receiving side and so if we do not act, we will be on the losing side. OK.
