If you do not get allotment in the first round, you can retain all the options for the next round and wait. Your chances will be considered in the next rounds. You may have to give more options if you definitely want an engineering allotment in the first round itself. You may have to give options to Private SF Colleges also where the fee is Rs.35,000/- If you are willing to take up seats there, you can give options. Think over it and do what is necessary since if you get an allotment you have to accept it by paying the fee now, failing which you will not be considerd in the next round. When options to BDS can be registered, you can give that by placing it at the appropriate position in the option list then.

If you can take the risk of waiting for the future allotments it is OK. Nobody can predict when it would come. You should not get upset over that. But if you join some other Govt College you will be assured of an admission. Think over it and do the needful.

Dear Sir,
My name is on the rank list (management seat) of two Private Self Financing colleges. I have been asked to attend the college for counseling on 17th. I have to fly from here to attend this counseling. Does this mean that I will definitely get a seat in the college for the branch I have already requested? Or will the college ask me to give some options? Does the college have the right to discuss changing of options on counseling? What happens if I do not change options? What does the college ask normally during counselling? I also understand that there are nearly 250 candidates for EC in the rank list whereas the approx intake as per their brochure is 120 students. How will they accommodate 250 candidates for EC? Having spent a considerable amount of money to travel from here if I do not get a seat of my choice please imagine my situation. Please reply asap. Regards
Deepthy, Muscat

We understand the situation you are in. There is no other way out that attend anr try your chances. The fact that you have been included in the list and called for counselling does not guarantee a seat for you. It will depend on you rank and seat availability. If you have already given options, admission process should be based on that. Counselling is just the procedure of completing the admission requirements like verification of eligibility, allocation of branch, payment of fee etc.

May be difficult if the trends of 2009 continues this year also. In 2009, last allotment under MG for EC at MDL was to rank 4676. Give options and see.
