First you have to complete your MA in the subject and then try for PhD Admissions. You will have to identify a Supervising teacher of the University/Institution where you propose to do research. You may have to approach him with the proposed research plan you have drafted. If the Guide agrees to take you as a research scholar under him (there are conditions for being a research guise and there are also restrictions on the number of students a guide can accommodate for Research test). If you have a JRF of UGC or similar agencies, you will be considered for admission to the PhD Programme. If not, you may have to pass a Research admission test based of the University you are planning to do research. There may be an interiew also before admission. Once all that are cleared you will be permitted to join the institution as a research scholar. There will be time limits for the completion of the Programme depending on the University. There is also provision for part-time research also.

യൂണിയൻ പബ്ലിക് സർവീസ് കമ്മീഷൻ (യു.പി.എസ്.സി) നടത്തുന്ന സിവിൽ സർവീസസ് പരീക്ഷ വഴിയാണ് ഇന്ത്യൻ അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേറ്റീവ് സർവീസ് (ഐ.എ.എസ്) ഉൾപ്പടെ 24 ൽ പരം സർവീസുകളിലേക്ക് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പു നടത്തുന്നത്. സിവിൽ സർവീസ് പരീക്ഷ അഭിമുഖീകരിക്കാൻ വേണ്ട അടിസ്ഥാന വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ യോഗ്യത, ഒരു അംഗീകൃത സർവകലാശാലാ ബിരുദo/തത്തുല്യ യോഗ്യത ആണ്. നിശ്ചിത വിഷയത്തിൽ ബിരുദമെടുക്കണമെന്ന് വ്യവസ്ഥ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല. അതിനാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ആദ്യം ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്, ഏതെങ്കിലും വിഷയത്തിൽ കുറഞ്ഞത് 3 വർഷം ദൈർഘ്യമുള്ള താൽപര്യമുള്ള ഒരു കോഴ്സിലൂടെ ബിരുദമെടുക്കുക എന്നതാണ്.
സിവിൽ സർവീസ് പരീക്ഷയ്‌ക്ക് 2 ഘട്ടമുണ്ട്. പ്രിലിമിനറി, മെയിൻ (എഴുത്തുപരീക്ഷ, പെഴ്സണാലിറ്റി ടെസ്റ്റ്/ഇന്റർവ്യൂ). ബിരുദമെടുത്ത ശേഷം സിവിൽ സർവീസസ് പരീക്ഷയുടെ പ്രിലിമിനറി പരീക്ഷ അഭിമുഖീകരിക്കണം. യോഗ്യതാ കോഴ്സിന്റെ ഫൈനൽ പരീക്ഷ അഭിമുഖീകരിക്കുന്നവർക്കും പ്രിലിമിനറി എഴുതാം. മെയിൻ പരീക്ഷയ്ക്കു മുമ്പ് യോഗ്യത നേടിയാൽ മതി. പൊതു സ്വഭാവമുള്ളതും അഭിരുചി അളക്കുന്നതുമായ ഒബ്ജക്ടീവ് ടൈപ്പ് ചോദ്യങ്ങളുള്ള 2 പേപ്പർ അടങ്ങുന്നതാണ് പ്രിലിമിനറി. ഇതിൽ യോഗ്യത നേടുന്നവർക്കുള്ള രണ്ടാം ഘട്ടമാണ് മെയിൻ പരീക്ഷ. മൊത്തം 9 പേപ്പർ ഉണ്ട്. വിവരണാത്മകരീതിയിൽ ഉത്തരം നൽകേണ്ടവ. അതിൽ രണ്ടെണം, യോഗ്യതാ പേപ്പറുകളാണ്. ബാക്കി 7 എണ്ണം, റാങ്ക് നിർണയത്തിനു പരിഗണിക്കുന്നവയും. ഈ 7 പേപ്പറിൽ രണ്ടെണ്ണം ഓപ്ഷണൽ പേപ്പർ ആണ്. ലഭ്യമാക്കിയിട്ടുള്ള മൊത്തം 26 ഓപ്ഷണൽ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും ഇഷ്ടമുള്ള ഒരു ഓപ്ഷണൽ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാം. അതിൽ രണ്ടു പേപ്പർ ഉണ്ടാകും
