Mathrubhumi, the mirror and guiding light of Malayalees, is launching its 16th edition from Qatar. This is our second edition from abroad. Mathrubhumi was launched on March 18, 1923 as part of the Indian freedom struggle. The 15th edition was started from Dubai on March 18, 2013. This was also Mathrubhumi's first edition on a foreign soil. This edition will reflect the opinions and aspirations of the Malayalee community in Qatar and bring to the notice of the government the problems they face. Along with this, we will bring them comprehensive reports of happenings in Kerala.

The divine objectives of Indian freedom struggle had paved way for the growth of Mathrubhumi, which was launched by K P Kesava Menon and K Madhavan Nair. Similar to the stances taken in the fight against intrusion of foreign forces on our soil, Mathrubhumi always remained in the forefront in the fight for social equality and righteousness. Mahatma Gandhi blessed the efforts by paying a visit to Mathrubhumi. Post independence, Mathrubhumi embarked on the holy mission of serving as the messenger of development and growth. Today, with more than 10 popular periodicals, online edition, Club FM radio, Mathrubhumi News and Kappa TV, Mathrubhumi has become an extensive media house.

Malayalees, who always reserve a place for their motherland and mother tongue in their heart, no matter where they stay, remained the backbone of the growth of Mathrubhumi, which had a humble beginning amidst inadequate and struggling circumstances 92 years ago. Over the years, both the voices of Mathrubhumi and Malayalees have merged into one. Riding on this confidence, Mathrubhumi is beginning its edition from Qatar. Mathrubhumi, which had always lent its voice to the aspirations of NRI Malayalees, is dedicating itself to Malayalam and Malayalees and is coming to the doorsteps of Malayalees in Qatar.
